SUSTAINABILITY
At Plotpackers, sustainability isn’t a slogan.
It’s the structure of how we operate, from itinerary design to supplier choice to carbon calculation. Born out of a desire to create safer, more ethical travel experiences, our tours are built with climate justice, carbon reduction, community support, and transparency at their core.
Carbon Reduction
The travel industry contributes up to 11% of global emissions, and has an enormous carbon footprint exceeding 4.5 billion tonnes of CO2e annually. We design our trips to reduce emissions at the source: low-impact overland routes, carbon calculations using supplier-specific data, and a local supply chain. We consider environmental factors in risk assessments, build in sustainability tips to our itineraries, have excellent waste management across our supply chain, and build tours in collaboration with local communities.
While we do offset emissions, our focus is firmly on reduction, not performative pledges.
Local Leadership
In 2024, 57% of our total revenue went directly into local economies through partnerships with independent, often female-led businesses.
From an all female operations team in Peru to female head guides on Kilimanjaro, our supply chain is built to uplift the communities we visit, not extract from them. We believe the people who live on the land are the best equipped to protect it.
At Plotpackers, sustainability is something we ensure shows up in our decisions and measurable impact, not slogans. We believe in radical transparency on what we’re doing, as well as all of the things we need to do better.
Built In, Not Bolted On
We embed sustainability into every part of our tours: ethical wildlife experiences, waste-conscious accommodation, carbon reduction, and briefings that educate travellers, not just entertain them. We don’t rely on greenwashing or glossy eco-badges. Instead, we let the data, and our community, speak for itself.
